Which degree program did you graduate from? When did you graduate?
I graduated from Western Illinois University in 2008.
Why did you choose SLP?
I was able to observe a speech therapist while I was in high school and I fell in love with the job instantly. All I could think about was, "What is more important than helping people to better express their wants and needs to others?" After I researched the job a little more and took the intro class as a freshman in college, I knew there was no other job for me. I was going to be a Speech and Language Pathologist.
How did the ProCare Scholarship impact your last year in the program?
My last year of graduate school was very busy, full of paper work and tests. I had little to no time to work. Having The ProCare scholarship helped me out immensely financially and gave me the time to focus more on my academics. The scholarship also saved me the time of looking for a job placement. While my peers where stressed studying for the praxis, completing their internship AND looking for open positions or going to job fairs, I was able to focus on my internship and Praxis while the staff at ProCare was busy finding the perfect location for me to work. This scholarship relieved an enormous amount of stress off me. Applying for the ProCare scholarship was an extremely helpful opportunity that I feel very fortunate to have received.
What was your reaction when you were awarded the scholarship?
I was thrilled when ProCare informed me that I had been awarded with the scholarship. It was the first scholarship I had received and it was well worth the time and effort to complete.

Which degree program did you graduate from? When did you graduate?
East Carolina University - Communications Sciences and Disorders - Graduation date 5/2010
Why did you choose SLP?
I was given Speech Therapy as a child. Over the past 5 years, my uncle was diagnosed with a speech impaired disease. This caused me to research the career further and the flexibility of the career.
How did the ProCare Scholarship impact your last year in the program?
I will receive the scholarship Sept of 2009.
What was your reaction when you were awarded the scholarship?
I was very happy to receive the ProCare Scholarship. I am unable to work while attending graduate courses full time. The scholarship will provide a much needed financial assistance while I am completing my coursework. I am very excited about my last year in the program and my upcoming CFY with ProCare Therapy.
