Special Education in Dearborn Heights
Position: Direct Services Special Education Teacher Position
Duration: Part Time; 2024-2025 School Year
Caseload: Middle School and High School with at-risk students with high transiency throughout the school year. Would only be providing direct services, no IEP case management.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the varying learning capabilities of students.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, and other specialists to support student learning and development.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and goals.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and positive behavior support strategies.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for certification.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and disabilities.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
