Job Description:
We are seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher for an Elementary Resource Room in St. Louis Park, Minneapolis. This position focuses on teaching math and functional skills while managing a caseload due to an increase in student numbers. The teacher currently in this role will transition to another group within the building. The ideal candidate will have experience working with BIPOC and LGBTQ+IA groups, as well as a strong understanding of equity, implicit bias, and student connection to improve academic achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach math and functional skills to elementary students in a resource room setting.
- Serve as a case manager for students with individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Differentiate instruction using the core curriculum of the district, ensuring the needs of each student are met.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to co-teach and plan lessons.
- Build strong connections with students to improve their academic outcomes, understanding their needs and challenges.
- Engage in ongoing equity and implicit bias training to support a diverse student population.
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License (required).
- Experience working with BIPOC and LGBTQ+IA groups (preferred).
- Commitment to equity and inclusion, with implicit bias training and experience.
- Strong ability to differentiate instruction and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
