Special Education in Dearborn Heights

Position: Special Education Teacher Positions

Duration: Full Time; 2024-2025 School Year
Caseload: Early Childhood through High School *please let me know if you have a caseload preference and what your licensure is in so we can best accommodate you*

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the varying learning capabilities of students.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, and other specialists to support student learning and development.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and goals.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques and positive behavior support strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for certification.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
