Position Overview: As a High School Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with moderate to severe disabilities. You will collaborate with other educators, specialists, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs. Your dedication to fostering academic growth, communication skills, and social development will contribute to the success of these students as they progress through their educational journey.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs for students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet individual learning needs
- Provide differentiated instruction and accommodations as necessary
- Collaborate with educational teams to promote a cohesive learning experience
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Utilize effective behavior management strategies
- Monitor and track student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student achievements and challenges
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid Colorado teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with moderate to severe disabilities preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt and respond to the diverse needs of students
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for special education
