Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional
Location: Caledonia, MI
Employment Type: Part-Time, Contract
Caseload Details:
- .5 position, part time
- Onsite - will be servicing multiple school sites
- K-12
- Master degree and completion of social work program through MDE
- 2-3 years experience preferred but not required
- Michigan SSW Cert
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs.
- Assist with implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and assist with instructional activities under the guidance of the special education teacher.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Help students with personal care, communication, and mobility as needed.
- Work closely with teachers and staff to track student progress and adjust support strategies as required.
- Keep accurate records of student behavior and performance.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher in a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with students with special needs, ideally in an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students’ academic and social development.
- Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
- Willingness to undergo a background check and meet other school district requirements.
