Are you looking for a great new opportunity? ProCare Therapy has teamed up with an excellent school district in the Huntsville, Alabama area looking for someone to join their team as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for the upcoming 23/24 school year!

The ideal candidate will be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and have experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Responsibilities: (Elementary Aged Students)

• Provide interpreting services to students in the classroom and other school settings
• Translate spoken language into ASL and vice versa to facilitate communication between students and teachers
• Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed
• Attend meetings and participate in discussions to ensure that all parties are informed and able to communicate effectively
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting services provided and report progress to school administrators as needed

Requirements:

• Certification as a sign language interpreter (such as RID, BEI, or NIC) or equivalent experience
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students in an educational setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff
• Ability to adapt to different communication styles and preferences
• Flexibility and a willingness to collaborate with others to achieve common goals
• Completion of an Interpreter Training program, AND one (1) year of providing instructional interpretation in a school environment preferred
