Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Full-Time

Location: Elkhart/Goshen, IN

Position Type: Full-Time, Onsite Only

Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Description:

We're on the lookout for a motivated Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic team in Elkhart/Goshen, IN, for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This full-time position, conducted onsite, is pivotal in delivering comprehensive occupational therapy services to students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Student Evaluations: Conduct in-depth evaluations to assess students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, and functional abilities.
  2. Individualized Planning: Collaborate with the IEP team to develop customized treatment plans tailored to each student's unique needs.
  3. Therapeutic Services: Provide direct therapy to students, both individually and in groups, focusing on handwriting, self-care, sensory integration, and social skills.
  4. Collaborative Efforts: Partner with teachers, parents, and school staff to seamlessly integrate therapy goals into classroom activities and daily routines.
  5. Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor and document student progress, making necessary adjustments to therapy strategies to ensure optimal outcomes.
  6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and student progress, ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulations.
  7. Team Participation: Actively participate in IEP meetings and team discussions to review student progress and contribute to educational planning.
  8. Professional Development: Stay abreast of the latest developments in occupational therapy through ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

For Occupational Therapist (OT):

  1. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  2. Licensure: Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Indiana.
  3. Experience: Preferably, previous experience in a school setting.
  4. Skills: Strong understanding of child development and learning disabilities; excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  5. Flexibility: Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students and the school environment.
  6. Commitment: Dedicated to delivering evidence-based therapy services that enhance student well-being.

For Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA):

  1. Education: Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  2. Certification: Current certification and licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA in Indiana.
  3. Experience: Preferably, experience in a school setting.
  4. Skills: Understanding of child development and learning disabilities; effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  5. Adaptability: Flexibility to respond to the varying needs of students and the school setting.
  6. Support: Committed to assisting in the delivery of evidence-based therapy that fosters student success.
