Job Title: School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT)

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will provide client-centered interventions to promote engagement in daily occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure. The OT will work collaboratively with students, their families, and school staff to develop and implement treatment plans to improve students' functional abilities, enhance their quality of life, and facilitate their return to daily activities. The OT will also be responsible for case management of their assigned caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, challenges, and goals related to daily occupations
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on students' needs, preferences, and goals
  • Provide interventions that may include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications
  • Monitor students' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Collaborate with students, families, and school staff to facilitate interdisciplinary care and promote client-centered practice
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes
  • Provide education to students, families, and school staff on adaptive strategies and home exercise programs
  • Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and assist with the development and implementation of student goals and accommodations
  • Provide case management of assigned caseload, including scheduling and communication with stakeholders
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities to enhance clinical practice

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of employment
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in Occupational Therapy
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy theory, principles, and evidence-based practice
  • Strong clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in computer skills and electronic medical records
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning

Physical Demands: The OT may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds. They may also be required to assist students with transfers and mobility tasks.

Working Conditions: The OT will work in a school setting, interacting with students, families, and school staff. They may encounter students with a range of physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges.
