Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Paraprofessional to join our team at a school in King George, VA. As a Paraprofessional, you will work closely with teachers and students to provide support in the classroom, ensuring an engaging and effective learning environment for all students, including those with special needs. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping students succeed and supporting educators in their efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher in delivering instructional activities and classroom management.
- Support students with special needs, providing individualized or small-group support as needed.
- Help students stay on task, understand assignments, and participate in classroom activities.
- Provide assistance with personal care, mobility, and other support services as required for students with disabilities.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and other staff members.
- Assist with classroom materials, technology, and equipment set-up.
- Help with administrative tasks such as grading, filing, and record-keeping.
- Maintain a positive, supportive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other staff about student progress and any concerns.
- Work collaboratively with K-8 teachers, other educational technicians, and administration
- Supervise students in the special and regular education classroom settings
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials
- Implement structured MTSS/Special Ed. behavior plans
- Provide direct instructional and executive functioning support
- Monitor and document student academic, behavioral, and social growth
- Complete annual safety care trainings
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in education or child development is a plus.
- Experience working with children, preferably in a school or special education setting.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude toward students and staff.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently as needed.
- Understanding of student needs and willingness to provide support as directed by the teacher.
