Personal Care Assistants needed near Scranton, PA

Hours: Full-Time and Part-Time

Caseload: Students of all ages. Most will be in a 1:1 capacity. Students needs range anywhere from seizure disorders, to feeding, and bathroom assistance. 

Job Summary:
A paraprofessional provides essential support to educators and students in an educational setting. This role involves working closely with teachers to enhance the learning environment and provide individualized assistance to students, particularly those with special needs or requiring additional academic support. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and committed to fostering student growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students who require additional support.
Monitor and supervise students in various settings, including the classroom, lunchroom, playground, and during transitions.
Support students with special needs by implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
Assist in maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.
Prepare and organize instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
Provide support during testing and assessments, including administering accommodations.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages student engagement and participation.
Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and school staff regarding student progress and needs.
Assist with record-keeping, documentation, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Previous experience in an educational or childcare setting is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Basic knowledge of educational practices and child development.
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist students with mobility if needed.
Stamina to stand, walk, and actively engage with students throughout the day.
Work Environment:
This position typically operates in a classroom setting, with occasional duties outside the classroom, such as on the playground or during school events.

Job duties:  Work collaboratively with K-12 teachers, other educational technicians, and administration
Supervise students in the special and regular education classroom settings
Assist in the preparation of instructional materials
Implement structured MTSS/Special Ed. behavior plans
Provide direct instructional and executive functioning support
Monitor and document student academic, behavioral, and social growth
Complete annual safety care trainings

Pay Rate:  $16-19 an hour
