Qualifications:       

·         Highly qualified status. Must have a secondary school diploma and one (1) of the following:

-          At least two (2) years of postsecondary study

-          Associate’s degree or higher degree

·         Possesses all clearances required by the district

·         Ability and desire to interact with students

·         Ability and desire to work in a school environment

·         Ability to communicate with teachers, students, other school personnel, and parents

·

Work Year:   School year as per contract

Performance Responsibilities:

·         Assists the student(s) to whom assigned in personal and physical tasks

·         Hears the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping them but not teaching them

·         Performs simple errands and tasks for student(s)

·         Accompanies the students(s) to whom assigned to different places in the building as needed

·         Establishes a supportive and sympathetic relationship with the student(s) without fostering or encouraging intense emotional involvement

·         Serves as a resource person, if and when requested, to the student personnel evaluation team conferring about one of the students to whom assigned

·         Performs the tasks associated with the position of teacher aide

·         Performs other duties associated with this position as assigned by the principal and/or teacher, or special education director

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Physically able to perform job responsibilities, including lifting and handling at least 25 lbs. regularly and at least 50 lbs. on an occasional basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.1
Job Summary:
A paraprofessional provides essential support to educators and students in an educational setting. This role involves working closely with teachers to enhance the learning environment and provide individualized assistance to students, particularly those with special needs or requiring additional academic support. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and committed to fostering student growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students who require additional support.
Monitor and supervise students in various settings, including the classroom, lunchroom, playground, and during transitions.
Support students with special needs by implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
Assist in maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.
Prepare and organize instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
Provide support during testing and assessments, including administering accommodations.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages student engagement and participation.
Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and school staff regarding student progress and needs.
Assist with record-keeping, documentation, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Previous experience in an educational or childcare setting is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Basic knowledge of educational practices and child development.
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist students with mobility if needed.
Stamina to stand, walk, and actively engage with students throughout the day.
Work Environment:
This position typically operates in a classroom setting, with occasional duties outside the classroom, such as on the playground or during school events.

Job duties:  Work collaboratively with K-12 teachers, other educational technicians, and administration
Supervise students in the special and regular education classroom settings
Assist in the preparation of instructional materials
Implement structured MTSS/Special Ed. behavior plans
Provide direct instructional and executive functioning support
Monitor and document student academic, behavioral, and social growth
Complete annual safety care trainings

Pay Rate:  $20-23 an hour
