School Psychologist Responsibilities

School psychologists work with children in grades K – 12, helping them with academic struggles, disabilities, behavioral and emotional issues. School psychologists promote wellness within a school by providing these students with anger management, social, and communication skills. Assessing students’ progress and collaborating with other educators is another major responsibility for school psychologists.

School Psychologist Requirements

Before you begin working as a school psychologist you need at a minimum a master’s degree. Many school psychologists go back to school and receive a Doctor of Education or Doctor of Philosophy. Most states, but not all, then require certification from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) where they can then receive state licensure.

Full Time School Psychologist Opening – Garden City, MI

I have partnered with an amazingly supportive school district that is looking for a new passionate School Psychologist in Garden City, MI to join their team! This is a full-time onsite position, and the school is looking to interview as soon as possible. The ideal candidate should be available for immediate hire with intent to stay the remainder of the school year. Very welcoming environment with great resources for their staff. JOB DETAILS:

  • Full-time: 30-40 hrs/week (M-F) for the full school year
  • Prior experience working directly with children is ideal
  • Caseload: K-12th grade students with mild to severe disabilities, on-site supporting the district
  • Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
    • Performing psychological evaluations of students
    • Recommending students for special education services
    • Assisting in the preparation of goals and objectives
    • Behavior interventions and planning behavior strategies

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Master's in School Psychology
  • Must have active School Psychologist licensure and school state requirements in MI
  • Previous in school experience preferred
  • Must pass drug screen and background check
