Job Description
Seeking an experienced professional to provide specialized support in a K-12 school environment for the 2025-2026 academic year. This role focuses on assisting students who are visually impaired, promoting their independence and skill development in everyday activities.
Qualifications:
- Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification in Missouri
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred, though not mandatory
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with educational staff
Location: Kansas City, MO
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to assess and address the mobility needs of students.
- Develop and implement individualized mobility plans tailored to each students abilities and goals.
- Provide direct instruction in orientation and mobility techniques.
- Facilitate training sessions for staff and support staff on mobility strategies.
- Maintain comprehensive records of student progress and adjust strategies as needed.
- Support students in achieving greater independence in their daily routines.
