Job Description
A school-based specialist is sought to provide essential therapeutic services to students in a K-12 environment. This full-time position spans the entire school year, allowing for a meaningful impact on the lives of children who require support in their daily activities and learning.
Location: Newport News, VA
Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapy license in the state
- Relevant experience in school settings, particularly with K-12 students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Commitment to working collaboratively with students, parents, and educational staff
- Experience with diverse populations and varying needs
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, and implement therapeutic programs tailored to individual student needs
- Collaborate with educators and other specialists to ensure comprehensive support
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and therapy outcomes
- Provide direct therapy services and monitor student responses
- Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with families regarding student progress
- Create a supportive and engaging therapeutic environment
