Job Description
A dynamic opportunity awaits for a skilled interpreter in an elementary school setting. This position will run 6/3-6/27/25 with a specific focus on supporting a learning environment for a 4th-grade student who is deaf. The interpreter will play a crucial role in facilitating communication and enhancing the educational experience as the student transitions back to the classroom. This role is scheduled Tuesday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, totaling 32 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly with elementary students.
- Understanding of special education processes and methodologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teaching staff and students.
Location: Columbia, MO
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for the student in all assigned classroom activities.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure effective communication and accessibility.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development as required.
- Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the student's individual needs and learning goals.
- Support the students social and emotional development through positive interaction and encouragement.
