An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a 10th-grade student in a K-12 classroom setting located in Durham, NC. This position is designed for the upcoming school year and involves providing essential communication access through sign language, facilitating the students learning in a separate classroom environment.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification, NAD certification)
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly with K-12 students
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with educators and staff
- Understanding of deaf culture and educational strategies for deaf or hard-of-hearing students

Responsibilities:
- Interpret educational content and facilitate communication between the student and teachers using ASL
