Location: Philipsburg, MT Job Duration: Contract (CSY) Schedule: Part-Time, 12 hours per week School Days: Monday - Thursday
As a Virtual Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication for K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This position offers the unique opportunity to work with one student on a part-time basis, allowing for a focused and impactful interpreting experience. The school operates during the day from Monday to Thursday, providing a consistent schedule for independent contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation for instructional activities.
- Support the individual communication needs of the student, ensuring they receive the full educational experience.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop strategies for effective communication.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to ethical standards in all interpreting assignments.
- Engage with the student in a virtual environment, utilizing appropriate technology and resources.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Demonstrated experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and the unique needs of deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Ability to obtain an Independent Contractor Exemption Certificate (ICEC) in Montana.
