Job Description
An opportunity is available for a dedicated professional to provide essential therapy services in an educational setting. This role is focused on supporting middle school students with severe to profound speech and language needs, many of whom utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. The position is set to last for the full semester and requires a commitment of approximately 35 hours per month.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field
- Valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Experience working with school-aged children, particularly those with special needs
- Proficiency in using AAC devices and familiarity with various communication methods
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
Location:
- Peoria, Illinois
Responsibilities:
- Provide speech and language assessments and develop tailored therapy plans
- Deliver structured therapy sessions to meet the diverse needs of students
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to support student goals
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting therapy as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
