A full-time opportunity is available for a dedicated professional in autism and education within an elementary school setting. This contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young students aged K-2 with diverse learning needs. Specialists will focus on a comprehensive approach to improving communication, social skills, and independent life skills for students with autism.
Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia teaching license or eligibility
- Proven experience as an Autism Specialist or Special Education Teacher
- Strong understanding of instructional strategies for students with autism
- Ability to work collaboratively with instructional assistants and other staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Location:
- Alexandria, VA
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in the Multi-Intervention Program
- Create a structured and supportive classroom environment tailored to the needs of students with autism
- Collaborate with instructional assistants to facilitate learning and promote positive behaviors
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to ensure successful outcomes
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development as required
