An exciting opportunity awaits for a dedicated professional in the field of special education. This position is designed for an enthusiastic individual ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners within an elementary school setting.
Location: Alexandria, VA
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, for the entire 2025-2026 school year
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored educational programs to meet the diverse needs of students in a resource classroom setting, focusing on grades K-2.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure the effective implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Provide both general education and special education services, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress and IEP compliance.
- Utilize data-driven approaches to assess student needs and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and behavioral expectations.
Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Teaching License with active special education certification.
- Experience teaching or working with elementary-aged students, particularly in special education.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and families.
- Ability to create a positive and structured learning environment.
- Knowledge of IEP processes and data-driven instruction is preferred.
