Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Type: Full-Time, School Year 2024-2025

Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs, helping them reach their full potential, and creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be instrumental in providing individualized instruction, fostering social-emotional growth, and collaborating with families and staff to create a positive learning experience for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide direct instruction and support for students with a variety of disabilities, including but not limited to learning disabilities, autism, emotional and behavioral disorders, and intellectual disabilities.
  • Adapt curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring they have access to the general education curriculum where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning experience.
  • Monitor and track student progress toward IEP goals and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Provide behavioral interventions and support as necessary, implementing strategies to foster positive behavior and emotional regulation.
  • Participate in meetings related to IEP development, parent conferences, and other collaborative team efforts.
  • Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and independence.
  • Stay current with special education laws, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Masters degree preferred).
  • Current Minnesota Special Education License (or ability to obtain).
  • Knowledge of special education laws and best practices in differentiated instruction.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Experience working with students with a range of disabilities, including autism, learning disabilities, and behavioral disorders.
  • Passion for helping all students succeed and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, patient, and supportive classroom atmosphere.
