Job Description
An opportunity exists for a dedicated professional with expertise in special education and behavior support. This full-time position is situated in a K-12 school environment in Whites City, NM, where the focus will be on providing tailored educational experiences for a high school sophomore exhibiting significant behavioral challenges.
Qualifications:
- Valid state certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with Autism and behavioral challenges
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Team-oriented mindset, with experience collaborating with paraprofessionals and other staff
- Knowledge of positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS)
Responsibilities:
- Assess and address the educational and behavioral needs of the student
- Collaborate with a dedicated paraeducator to implement effective support strategies
- Develop and modify IEPs in accordance with state requirements
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents, staff, and administration
- Create a structured and supportive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
