Qualifications:
- Certification in Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, preferably with a focus on visual impairments
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Proficient in the use of assistive technology for students with visual impairments
- Commitment to professional development and ongoing education
Responsibilities:
- Assess students needs and develop tailored instructional strategies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement IEP goals
- Create a supportive and engaging learning environment that accommodates diverse needs
- Provide training and resources to staff, students, and families regarding visual impairment
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and relevant training
