Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education, preferably with a focus on Visual Impairment
- Valid state teaching certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with high school-aged students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop tailored educational plans
- Familiarity with assistive technology for visual impairments
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and develop individualized education programs (IEPs) focused on visual impairment
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to implement effective teaching strategies
- Provide direct instruction in subjects adapted for students with visual impairments
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods as needed
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP documentation
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance personal skills and knowledge
