Job Description
Located in Tacoma, WA, this part-time role offers a unique opportunity to impact students' lives in a K-12 educational setting. The position is designed for Teachers for the Visually Impaired, focusing on creating inclusive and supportive learning environments for students with visual impairments. This position lasts for the 2025-2026 school year, requiring approximately 3.5 hours of work per week, with a schedule of 4-5 days depending on students' needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification
- Strong understanding of IEPs and 504 plans
- Experience working with K-12 students, particularly in diverse settings
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Location:
- Tacoma, WA
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored educational programs for a caseload of 10-14 students
- Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and families to ensure comprehensive support for students
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet individual needs
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress
- Provide ongoing communication and guidance to parents and guardians regarding student development
