Role Overview & Responsibilities
We’re seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our elementary school team in Dixon, Illinois. You’ll be responsible for providing specialized instruction to a small caseload of 8-10 students, supported by a dedicated paraprofessional team. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
- Collaborating with para support to provide targeted interventions, differentiated instruction, and academic and behavioral support.
- Monitoring progress, assessing student outcomes, and adjusting strategies to ensure educational goals are met.
- Fostering an inclusive and positive classroom environment that encourages student growth and achievement.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field.
- Licensure: Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Special Education.
- Certification: Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) endorsement is required.
- Skills: Strong ability to work collaboratively with para support and other school staff, along with effective classroom management and communication skills.
Interview Process
Our interview process includes a phone screening, followed by a virtual interview with school administration and a final in-person meeting.
