ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join a supportive elementary school in Elmwood Park, IL. This full-time role will involve working with elementary students in a self-contained classroom setting, focusing on providing personalized support for students with various disabilities. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects and life skills tailored to the specific needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other staff to support student inclusion and success.
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, structured environment.
- Track student progress, adjust teaching strategies, and communicate regularly with parents, administrators, and support staff.
What You Need to Apply:
- Certification Requirements: Must hold a valid Special Education Teaching License in Illinois. This includes:
- A valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Special Education.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (or equivalent).
- Successful completion of the required Illinois state exams for Special Education licensure.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, especially in a special education setting, is preferred but not required.
- Strong ability to differentiate instruction and apply individualized strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Compassionate, patient, and skilled in classroom management, with a focus on building positive relationships with students.
Interview Process:
- Step 1: Phone screening (10-15 minutes) to discuss your qualifications, experience, and interest.
- Step 2: Virtual interview with the school district (20-30 minutes).
- Step 3: Job offer extended within 24-48 hours of interview.
