Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $35-$45, based on experience and qualifications

About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Flint, Michigan. This full-time position involves working with students in a resource classroom setting, providing individualized support for students with mild to moderate disabilities, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, specific learning disabilities, and speech/language impairments. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Individualized Instruction: Deliver specialized instruction to students with mild to moderate disabilities, focusing on academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Develop and Implement IEPs: Create and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with families, paraprofessionals, and other school staff.
  • Collaborate with Teachers: Work closely with general education teachers and support staff to ensure students have the tools and resources needed to succeed.
  • Monitor and Track Student Progress: Continuously assess student performance and make adjustments to instructional strategies to support their growth.
  • Create an Inclusive Classroom: Foster a welcoming, safe, and supportive classroom where all students feel valued and empowered to learn.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher License required (Type 1, 2, or 3, in accordance with Michigan Department of Education standards).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with students with disabilities, particularly those with ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities, is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong classroom management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • State-Specific Requirements:
    • Valid Michigan Special Education Certification (Type 1, 2, or 3).
    • Completion of background checks and clearance as required by Michigan law.
    • Experience in developing and managing IEPs and adhering to state and federal education regulations.
