About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Flint, Michigan. This full-time position involves working with students in a resource classroom setting, providing individualized support for students with mild to moderate disabilities, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, specific learning disabilities, and speech/language impairments. Key Responsibilities
- Provide Individualized Instruction: Deliver specialized instruction to students with mild to moderate disabilities, focusing on academic and social-emotional growth.
- Develop and Implement IEPs: Create and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with families, paraprofessionals, and other school staff.
- Collaborate with Teachers: Work closely with general education teachers and support staff to ensure students have the tools and resources needed to succeed.
- Monitor and Track Student Progress: Continuously assess student performance and make adjustments to instructional strategies to support their growth.
- Create an Inclusive Classroom: Foster a welcoming, safe, and supportive classroom where all students feel valued and empowered to learn.
Qualifications
- Certification: Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher License required (Type 1, 2, or 3, in accordance with Michigan Department of Education standards).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience working with students with disabilities, particularly those with ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities, is preferred.
- Skills: Strong classroom management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- State-Specific Requirements:
- Valid Michigan Special Education Certification (Type 1, 2, or 3).
- Completion of background checks and clearance as required by Michigan law.
- Experience in developing and managing IEPs and adhering to state and federal education regulations.
