- Hourly Rate: $35-$45, based on experience and qualifications

About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this full-time position, you’ll be responsible for providing individualized support to students with diverse learning needs, including mild to moderate disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and speech/language impairments. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Tailored Instruction: Provide individualized instruction to support students with a variety of disabilities, ensuring that each student receives the attention they need to succeed.
- Develop and Manage IEPs: Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), regularly collaborating with families, paraprofessionals, and education staff.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work with general education teachers and other support staff to create a cohesive educational experience for students.
- Monitor Student Progress: Regularly assess student performance, adjusting teaching methods and strategies to foster continued improvement.
- Create an Inclusive Environment: Establish a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom where students feel supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Qualifications
- Certification: Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher License required (Type 1, 2, or 3, in accordance with Michigan Department of Education standards).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience working with students with disabilities is preferred, especially experience in managing mild to moderate disabilities, ADHD, autism, and/or speech impairments.
- Skills: Strong classroom management, excellent communication, and the ability to differentiate instruction based on student needs.
- State-Specific Requirements:
- Valid Michigan Special Education Certification (Type 1, 2, or 3).
- Completion of background checks and clearance as required by Michigan law.
- Experience with developing and managing IEPs and adhering to state and federal education regulations.
