Role Overview & Responsibilities
We are seeking a dedicated School Psychologist to provide essential psychological services within school settings in Virginia. This role involves collaborating with educators, families, and administrators to support students' mental health and academic needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Assessments: Conduct psycho-educational assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Intervention Plans: Develop and implement individualized intervention strategies to support students in academic and social settings.
- Consultation: Serve as a resource for teachers, parents, and school staff to provide insights on student behavior and recommend classroom strategies.
- Counseling: Offer short-term counseling and support services to students, addressing issues such as stress, anxiety, and behavioral challenges.
- IEP Support: Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, contributing psychological expertise to support goal development.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis support as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Requirements
To qualify for this School Psychologist role in Virginia, candidates must have:
- Education: A master’s degree or higher in School Psychology.
- Licensure:
- A valid Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) School Psychologist license.
- Or, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential with eligibility for Virginia licensure.
- Experience: Prior experience in a school setting is preferred, especially working with diverse student populations.
