Position Summary:
- Job Title: Special Education Teacher
- Location: Guilford, CT
- Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, aligned with the school district’s calendar

Primary Responsibilities:
- IEP Development & Management: Create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s specific needs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Instructional Support: Use diverse teaching methods and materials to address various learning styles, providing targeted support for students with different learning and behavioral needs.
- Student Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student progress and make data-driven decisions to adjust educational strategies and interventions.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with general education teachers, special services staff, and administrators to develop comprehensive support plans that cater to students’ academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Behavioral Support: Design and execute behavior management strategies and interventions to promote positive behavior and a supportive classroom environment.
- Family Communication: Maintain ongoing, transparent communication with families to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on any necessary program modifications.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Connecticut teaching certification with a concentration in Special Education.
- Previous experience in a special education setting is preferred, particularly with students who have learning disabilities, developmental delays, or emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Strong familiarity with state and federal special education regulations, IEP development, and data-based instructional practices.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and staff.
