Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Richmond, ME, for the upcoming school year. The Special Education Teacher will play a crucial role in providing support and instruction to students with disabilities, ensuring they have access to a quality education and the resources they need to succeed.

  • Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities, addressing individualized education plan (IEP) goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Serve as the case manager for a caseload of 15-20 students with specific learning disabilities, ensuring compliance with IEP requirements and coordinating support services.
  • Implement evidence-based instructional practices and interventions to support students in developing academic and functional skills.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement, self-advocacy, and independence.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, colleagues, and other members of the educational team to discuss student progress, concerns, and recommendations.


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid teaching certification/licensure in Special Education (ME certification preferred).
  • Experience working with students with specific learning disabilities and diverse educational needs.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and provide individualized support to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom.
