Job Description

ProCare Therapy is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for the 24/25 school year near Horsham, PA

Rate: $32/hr + depending on experience 

Requirements

• Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Obtain a bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Teacher Preparation Program: Complete a state-approved teacher preparation program that includes coursework and student teaching experiences specific to special education.

• Certification:

  • Pass the Required Exams: You need to pass the Pennsylvania Educator Certification Tests (PECT) or other state-required assessments. This typically includes the PECT PreK-4, PECT K-12, or similar tests depending on the grade level and specific focus.
  • Apply for Certification: Apply for Pennsylvania certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). You’ll need to submit your transcripts, proof of passing the exams, and other required documentation.
  • Clearances: Obtain required background checks, including Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and Federal FBI Criminal History Background Check.

• Additional Requirements:

  • Continuing Education: Once certified, you may need to complete continuing education or professional development courses to maintain your certification and stay updated on best practices in special education.
  • Compliance with State Regulations: Adhere to any additional state regulations or requirements specific to your teaching role and the school district where you work.
