About the Role:
As a Special Education Teacher in the Life Skills Classroom, you will play a key role in shaping the educational experience of students with unique learning needs. Your work will focus on fostering independence, self-confidence, and academic achievement through tailored, engaging instruction. You’ll work collaboratively with educators, families, and specialists to create personalized learning experiences that support each student's growth and well-being.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Develop and implement individualized IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) that address each student’s learning goals and needs.
- Provide differentiated instruction that ensures each student’s academic, social, and behavioral needs are met effectively.
- Incorporate innovative teaching methods and adaptive technologies to enhance student learning experiences.
- Continuously monitor and assess student progress, modifying instruction to ensure successful outcomes.
- Partner with general education teachers, support staff, and specialists to create a collaborative, inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed and engaged in their child’s development.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- A valid Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for certification in Illinois.
- Experience working with students who have a range of learning challenges and disabilities.
- A strong understanding of IEP development and the ability to tailor strategies to meet diverse needs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Bonus Skills (Not Required, but a Plus):
- Experience using assistive technology to enhance student learning.
- Knowledge of positive behavior management strategies and classroom interventions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment focused on collaboration and student success.
