Your Role: Impacting Lives, One Student at a Time
As a Special Education Teacher in the Life Skills Classroom, your mission is to provide individualized, compassionate support to students with special needs. You’ll work closely with a dedicated team of professionals to ensure every student is given the resources, encouragement, and education necessary to succeed and flourish, both in and out of the classroom.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and implement engaging, customized Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and goals.
- Adjust your teaching methods and pace to accommodate various learning styles, ensuring each student has the chance to succeed.
- Integrate innovative teaching techniques and educational technologies to enhance learning and participation.
- Track and evaluate student progress, adjusting instruction and strategies as necessary.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and other specialists to support each child’s holistic development.
- Maintain consistent and open communication with families to keep them informed about student progress and achievements.
What You Bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Valid Illinois Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for certification.
- Experience working with students with a variety of special needs, including behavioral, developmental, and learning disabilities.
- Deep understanding of IEP development, execution, and assessment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solution-focused approach to education.
