Job Description: Our school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-time K-5 Special Education Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a resource classroom setting and a passion for helping students with special needs achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students on caseload
- Use differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure student success
- Use positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS) strategies to promote a positive classroom environment
- Utilize technology to enhance student learning
- Attend professional development opportunities to continue learning and growing as an educator
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in special education or related field
- State teaching certification in special education
- Experience working with students with special needs in a resource classroom setting
- Knowledge of current special education laws and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
- Familiarity with assistive technology and other specialized resources
This position will have a caseload of 13 students, mostly in grades 3-5, with the potential to increase to 18 by the end of the year. The classroom will have para support to assist with student needs.
