Position Overview
As a Special Education Teacher in our Life-Skills Classroom, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse needs. Collaborating with a team of educators, specialists, and parents, you’ll ensure that each student receives the individualized care and attention they need to thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning abilities and styles.
  • Employ a range of teaching techniques and technologies to create engaging learning experiences.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, and specialists to support the overall development of students.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, goals, and achievements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • Valid Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for certification in Illinois.
  • Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs and disabilities.
  • Knowledge and experience in IEP development and execution.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with assistive technology and adaptive tools.
  • Familiarity with behavior management strategies and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals.
