Special Needs Classroom Assistant Needed in Millbrae, California!

Job Description:

  • Full-Time Position

  • Monday - Friday

  • Location: Millbrae, CA

  • Caseload Details: Dependent on School Placement

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Assist children based on their individual abilities, including teaching new lessons, reinforcing previous instructions, and working on individualized study tasks as directed by teachers.

  • Support children during play and general activities in class and around the school, including those with mobility issues or behavioral problems. This may also involve helping with personal care needs such as toileting and eating.

  • Ensure compliance with federal or state regulations on confidentiality, including the rules on student records and data outlined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

  • Assist the special education teacher in organizing and preparing materials for the day, setting up the classroom, and going over IEPs and 504 plans to ensure progress toward goals.

  • Provide extra help with assignme nts, tests, or understanding instruction, and offer additional instruction or support for students who need reading or other academic assistance.

  • Assist students with physical disabilities in the classroom with tasks such as moving around, sitting up, eating, or writing.

  • In classrooms with students who have behavioral needs, act as a secondary observer to keep students on task and prevent potential safety issues.

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education Obtained: High School Diploma

  • Reliable Transportation

  • Experience and Passion Working with Children

  • Ability to Pass a Drug Screening and Background Check
