Full-Time Special Education Teacher Position

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher with expertise in autism spectrum disorders to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year in Grandview, MO. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with autism and a commitment to providing high-quality, individualized instruction and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism spectrum disorders, tailoring instruction to meet the unique needs and abilities of each student.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with autism in a variety of settings, including inclusive classrooms, small group instruction, and one-on-one sessions.
  • Use evidence-based teaching strategies and interventions to promote academic, social, and behavioral success for students with autism, fostering independence and self-advocacy skills.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the needs of students with autism and promotes their overall growth and development.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring to track student growth and adjust instructional strategies as needed, ensuring that students are making meaningful progress toward their academic and social-emotional goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to paraprofessionals and other support staff working with students with autism, ensuring that they have the necessary training and resources to effectively support student learning and development.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, sharing information about student progress, achievements, and areas for growth, and collaborating on strategies for supporting student success at home and school.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field, with appropriate certification/licensure to teach Special Education in Missouri.
  • Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders, with a strong understanding of evidence-based practices and interventions for supporting students with autism in educational settings.
  • Knowledge of best practices in special education, including differentiated instruction, behavior management techniques, and the use of assistive technology to support student learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to support student success.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth, with a willingness to learn and implement new strategies and techniques to meet the changing needs of students with autism.
  • Passion for working with students with special needs and a dedication to advocating for their rights and ensuring that they receive a high-quality education that meets their individual needs and goals.
