The focus will be providing accessible, engaging physical education tailored for learners with diverse abilities.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure or certification in Adaptive Physical Education (APE)
- Prior experience teaching adaptive or general physical education, ideally in a school setting
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with teaching staff, support personnel, and families
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment, inclusive instructional strategies, and assessment methods
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver adaptive physical education lessons addressing a range of abilities across PreK8th grades
- Work with special education teams to evaluate student needs and update IEP goals
- Adapt curriculum and equipment for accessibility and safety
- Track and document student progress, preparing reports as needed
- Support fellow educators by sharing best practices in inclusive, adaptive instruction
- Foster a positive, encouraging environment where all students can participate and succeed
