Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract position supporting a wonderful 6th-grade student near Avon, IN, and make a meaningful impact in their school experience. In this specialized role, youll work one-on-one each Wednesday throughout the academic year, from July 29th to May 27th, where compassionate care and skilled nursing are key.
The student is a cheerful young girl with unique medical needs, including a tracheostomy and g-tube. Youll play a vital role in her school day routine by providing essential supportboth medical and personalin a supportive educational environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Active LPN license with a background in healthcare, preferably in schools or pediatrics
- Comfortable with toileting, changing, and personal care assistance
- Experience working with students who are minimally responsive to verbal instruction or questions
- Confident in providing tracheostomy care, including suctioning and trach changes (school will provide a brief online trach certification course if needed)
- Ability to operate g-tube for feeding or medication
- Capable of safely transferring the student as needed throughout the day
- CPR certification and experience with ambu bag resuscitation in a school or healthcare setting
- Empathy, patience, and a positive, attentive attitude
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct care to the student, such as toileting, hygiene, suctioning, and trach/g-tube management
- Support safe mobility and transferring within the school environment
- Respond promptly to medical needs or emergencies
- Communicate effectively with school staff and healthcare professionals as required
