Step into a rewarding contract opportunity making a real difference in a school setting near Brownsburg, IN. This role is ideal for an experienced, compassionate LPN eager to support a bright, cheerful 6th-grade student one day each week. Youll work Wednesdays from July 29th through May 27th, providing dedicated care and building trust in a welcoming educational environment.
Your focus will be on supporting a student who requires assistance with daily medical needs, including toileting, changing, and mobility transfers. The student has both a tracheostomy and g-tube; confidence in trach care and suctioning is essential. While certification is required, the school offers a short, accessible online course if you need to obtain or update your credentials. The student is joyful and easy to work with, responding well to gentle care, although she may not always engage with instructions or questions.
Key Experience and Qualifications:
- Active LPN license in Indiana
- Previous pediatric or school-based nursing experience preferred
- Skilled in tracheostomy and g-tube care (or willingness to complete quick online trach certification)
- CPR competency with ambu bag experience
- Ability to provide personal care, including toileting, changing, and safe physical transfers
- Patient, reliable, and committed to fostering a supportive environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee and perform daily medical care for the student
- Respond confidently to trach and g-tube needs, including emergencies
- Provide ongoing toileting, changing, and transfer assistance
- Foster a reassuring presence, ensuring the safety and well-being of the student each Wednesday
