Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a vibrant 7-year-old student in a school setting near Hillsboro, OR. This assignment offers meaningful, one-on-one nursing, providing essential care and companionship to a child with multiple medical needs. You'll play a crucial role in helping him access his education safely and comfortably.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing comprehensive 1:1 nursing care throughout the school day and during bus transport (M-F, 25 hours weekly).
- Assisting with all personal care, including toileting.
- Monitoring and caring for an open trach fistula, ensuring airway safety with a Hensinger collar.
- Managing G-tube feedings via pump.
- Safely transferring and repositioning a wheelchair-dependent, non-weight bearing student.
- Communicating and responding to the students needs using facial cues and other nonverbal signals.
- Collaborating with school staff to support the students daily activities.
- Taking part in orientation on August 24th, with the assignment beginning on August 26th through the end of the contract period.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Current LPN licensure (Oregon or compact, as required).
- Previous experience in pediatric or school nursing, and strong knowledge of trach, G-tube, and wheelchair care.
- A compassionate, attentive approach to supporting nonverbal children with complex medical needs.
- Physical ability to assist with lifts, transfers, and total care.
- Strong communication abilities and a collaborative attitude.
- Reliable transportation for the daily commute and bus ride responsibilities.
