Step into a rewarding, contract-based opportunity supporting a wonderful 6th grade student just south of Indianapolis. This role is ideal for an LPN whos passionate about school-based healthcare and eager to make a meaningful difference one day a week. The assignment runs from July 29th through May 27th, with work scheduled every Wednesday, allowing for a consistent yet flexible commitment.
As the primary healthcare provider for a cheerful student with complex medical needs, youll be instrumental in providing both skilled medical support and everyday care. The student relies on a tracheostomy and g-tube; the school requires trach certification, but if youre not yet certified, access to a convenient online course will be arranged for you. Your ability to manage toileting, transfers, trach care, suctioning, and readiness to utilize CPR with an ambu bag when necessary will be crucial.
Qualifications:
- Current LPN or LVN license valid in Indiana
- Previous experience in pediatric, school, or similar healthcare setting preferred
- Willingness to complete a trach care certification online if not already certified
- Comfort and proficiency with g-tube feeding, trach changes, and suctioning
- Ability to safely perform transfers and assist with toileting as required
- Competence in CPR and ambu bag use
Responsibilities:
- Provide all necessary medical care during the school day
- Respond promptly to the students health needs including trach and g-tube management
- Support daily activities such as toileting, changing, and transfers
- Communicate effectively with school staff and administrators
