Make a meaningful impact as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist working with students in a welcoming and supportive school environment. This full-time, on-site contract position, located near Dallas, OR, focuses on providing exceptional educational support to pediatric students through 1:1 and small-group instruction. Professionals who are passionate about promoting independence, developing fine motor and mobility skills, and enhancing the learning experiences of children are encouraged to apply. What Were Looking For:
- Graduate of an accredited program in Orientation and Mobility or related field.
- Current certification from either The Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) or The National Blindness Professional Certification Board (NBPCB).
- Demonstrated experience working with pediatric populations in educational settings, specifically providing 1:1 instruction.
- Proficiency in fine motor skills development strategies and adaptive techniques for students with visual impairments.
- Collaborative mindset, able to effectively engage with multidisciplinary teams including teachers, therapists, and families.
- Commitment to fostering functional independence and confidence in children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored orientation and mobility training to students in individual and small-group settings.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lessons to support fine motor and mobility goals.
- Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain detailed progress documentation.
- Collaborate with educational staff and families to ensure strategies are consistent across environments.
- Participate in IEP meetings, providing expertise and recommendations to help each child succeed.
- Act as a positive advocate for students, fostering an inclusive and accessible learning atmosphere.
