Job Description

Located at a well-equipped center serving elementary through high school students, this contract position offers the unique opportunity to help children and teens requiring full-day special education services. If you have a genuine passion for working with students impacted by severe disabilities and behavioral challenges, your expertise is needed in this supportive, team-oriented setting.

Key Qualifications:

  • Must be highly qualified per Minnesota standards by either:
    • Passing the MN Board Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Exam (provide official results), OR
    • Completing at least 60 college credits with verifiable transcripts (not diplomas)
  • A resume and proof of highly qualified status must be submitted with your application
  • Experience or demonstrated comfort working in high-need special education environments
  • Willingness to support students Grades K-12, with preferences for age range accommodated when possible
  • Ability and willingness to assist with toileting and personal care, as required
  • Readiness to handle behavioral challenges with patience and sensitivity

What Youll Be Doing:

  • Provide day-to-day classroom support under direction of certified special education staff
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe educational atmosphere for students
  • Assist with personal care, behavioral interventions, and adapted academics
  • Build trusting relationships to help students thrive socially and emotionally
  • Maintain clear communication with staff to ensure consistency and care

Position Details:

  • Contract position, MondayFriday, 32.5 hours per week, September 8, 2026 through June 10, 2027
  • Pay: $20 per hour
  • Candidates become eligible for direct hire after 422 contract hours
