Job Description

Special Education Paraprofessional
We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students with diverse learning, behavioral, communication, and physical needs in a school setting. This role involves working closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional and behavioral support to students receiving special education services.
  • Assist students in classroom activities, transitions, and community-based learning experiences.
  • Support students with daily living needs, which may include feeding, toileting, diapering, mobility assistance, and other personal care tasks.
  • Implement teacher-directed lesson plans and behavior support strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate observations to school staff.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in required trainings and follow all district and school guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher, or Completion of at least 48 college units, or Passing score on a recognized instructional aide/paraprofessional exam or equivalent qualifying assessment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively with students with varying educational, behavioral, and physical support needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with students in educational, childcare, behavioral health, or special education settings.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience supporting students with social-emotional or behavioral challenges.
  • Knowledge of sign language, visual impairment supports, or specialized medical support procedures.
  • Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation for this position ranges from $16.90 to $35.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
