Special Education Paraprofessional
We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students with diverse learning, behavioral, communication, and physical needs in a school setting. This role involves working closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide instructional and behavioral support to students receiving special education services.
- Assist students in classroom activities, transitions, and community-based learning experiences.
- Support students with daily living needs, which may include feeding, toileting, diapering, mobility assistance, and other personal care tasks.
- Implement teacher-directed lesson plans and behavior support strategies.
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to school staff.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in required trainings and follow all district and school guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher, or Completion of at least 48 college units, or Passing score on a recognized instructional aide/paraprofessional exam or equivalent qualifying assessment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively with students with varying educational, behavioral, and physical support needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with students in educational, childcare, behavioral health, or special education settings.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience supporting students with social-emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Knowledge of sign language, visual impairment supports, or specialized medical support procedures.
- Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
