Job Description
Step into a meaningful, part-time role supporting the educational journey of a 9th grade student as an American Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity focuses on providing language facilitation within a behavioral classroom setting for a student utilizing cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device. The student, currently adapting after time at a Residential Day School Program, requires support during instructional periods onlyexcluding lunch and arrival/dismissal times.
Youll work on-site every Friday, averaging 6.5 hours, with the potential to substitute on other weekdays as needed. As a collaborative job share, youll complement another language facilitator working Monday through Thursday, creating a flexible and supportive environment for the student.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language, with experience interpreting in school environments
- Relevant credentials and proof of licensure as a sign language interpreter
- Prior experience working with students who use assistive hearing technology is highly preferred
- Adaptable, patient, and able to respond to evolving student needs in a behavioral class setting
- Comfortable working as part of a coordinated education team
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer in-class ASL interpretation for instructional activities
- Maintain clear, accurate communication between student and classroom staff
- Adhere to confidentiality and professional standards at all times
- Collaborate with co-facilitators and education staff to ensure continuity of services
- Step in as a substitute if your MondayThursday counterpart is absent
