Qualified candidates should possess:

  • An active Georgia Educator Certification for Sign Language Interpreters
  • An EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
  • Experience providing sign language interpretation in educational or school environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism when interacting with students, staff, and families
  • The ability to maintain detailed daily service logs as required by the district
  • Flexibility to collaborate with administrators to determine grade/age group assignments according to your experience and preferences

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering accurate, effective sign language interpretation for students and staff in classroom and school events
  • Supporting instructional activities by facilitating communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and other personnel
  • Maintaining thorough records of services as directed by the district
  • Engaging in pre- and post-planning as needed, with opportunities for flexible scheduling
  • Collaborating with the school team to ensure placement aligns with your skills and interests
